Vätternrundan 2010 - Swedish impressions

This weekend took place the legendary "Vätternrundan 2010” in Sweden. Among the total of 20,000 cyclists for the first time a Free Motion team was participating as well. Its impressions? Read more:

The organization in Motala was impressive. Although 20.000 starters had to be supplied with racing numbers, identifiers and general information, the project was executed properly. Next to the office of the starting numbers was a great Expo with exhibitors around the sport of cycling. Free Motion is there - in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Gran Canaria - for many years an integral part.

Premiere, however, was the first participation of a separate 11 riders strong Free-Motion team at this event.

Saturday morning 04:30 clock - a half hour before we start, we ride towards the starting point. The rain has moved and it's pretty bright. At 05:00 clock the starting signal sounds and we drive off. Finally! Long time we have trained for this moment out.

We stay together as a group and ride towards the 300 km distant goal. Meanwhile, the weather is changeable, unfortunately, it is drizzling and partly also stronger rain. But this can not impress us much, as long we have been looking forward to this event. At one of the top organized food stops, we strengthen ourselves rapidly with warm blueberry soup, pastries, bananas and energy drinks. Then it's off again - freshly strengthened.

It is now late morning and we are for slightly more than 5.5 hours on the bike. We are in a good 32er km/h average on the 300 kilometers and surprised how well and smoothly it goes. Sometimes a group joins us, sometimes we sprint just for fun against each other - just wonderful, and the sun comes out for a while as well. After a second short break at km 199 km we take the last third of the way in attack.

The last 100km around the lake are tough - the end hurt the most, and the normally flat Sweden shows itself now from its hilly side. After 9 h 33 min we finally reach the desired destination. The legs are very tired after 300 km, but at the entrance we are all smiling. It is already clear:

VÄTTERNRUNDAN 2011 – WE WILL DEFINITELY BE THERE AGAIN!
